Isn't she though.. I can't believe my eyes some days.. She will outgrow me before long I'm sure!! Heck, I think I had outgrown my mom by 8th grade or so, which isn't saying too much since she is maybe 5'1.. Not that I am a giant or anything :o)
Hey! Im so jealous you are going to Waco! What are you going for? And when are you going?
I have a few ideas.. but Im not sure they are the best recommendations... and so much has changed even in the last 7 months so I will keep thinking.
Okay off the top of my head I would say:
Ninfa's - yummy mexican food. My favorite mexican place ever. Its downtown close to the Brazos River and some shops (Spice is the store next door .. you HAVE to go! they also have a yummy sandwhich shop inside of Spice that I love)
Papa Rollos - Pizza. Its an old timey place. They only play The Little Rascals on the TV. And the pizza is amazing. They seperate the smoking / non smoking areas so the kids would never see that part. They have all these hidden rooms to eat in. And a little game room. So its an intersting & fun place. Its Freelands favorite pizza in the world. He craves it all the time.
The Mayborn Museum - some of my friends work there and say its perfect for kids. I dont know if you can eat there or not. But Im sure kids would love it.
I will keep thinking because I know there is so much more. My boss has 2 kids so I will ask if he recommends any that are great with kids too. I will keep you posted!
okay.. so here are a few other ideas. Sorry this is so long! I didnt know your email address. Hopefully these help. Let me know if you have any questions or think of anything else! Have fun!
To eat: Baris - little hole in the wall Italian food. Super cheap but really yummy. Freeland's favorite is the Chicken Aristocrat.. if you go there you HAVE to get it. Its off Valley Mills Road.
Common Grounds - just a cute coffee shop next to Baylor's campus if you want coffee.
Cafe Cappuccino - breakfast place downtown across from Ninfas kind of. They have HUGE pancakes and lots of other options. Its a fun place.
Buzzard Billy's - I haven't been here in years personally. But my friend told me to recommend it. Its on the boat in the Brazos River.. its Louisiana type of food but they also have regular chicken and stuff for kids.
KT's Frozen Custard - awesome ice cream and you order from a window and they have places to sit and eat it after. Its off Valley Mills Road.
TO DO: You mentioned DR. Pepper Museum already - and that's fun. The zoo is great! We loved going there all the time. Your kids will also probably like the Mayborn Museum that I mentioned. My friend said kids from over 2 hours away come all the time.
Cameron Park - which is where the zoo is.. you can go there and they have a play ground for kids.. its right along the Brazos so you are by the river too. They have bike trails and everything else too. We used to take picnics there or just take sonic out there & eat it. You can drive through the whole thing and its beautiful.
Suspension bridge - this is random. But its pretty fun at night to go see it. People throw tortillas off of it at night to see if they can hit the pillars in the river.. so you will probably see people doing that if you go.
Texas Ranger Museum or Sports Museum - if your kids & hubby enjoy that sort of thing they will like both of those. I never went unless it was for something else that was just being held there. But I heard it was decent.
And like I said you have to go to Spice to look at the store. (upstairs and downstairs) Its so fun. If you go to the back right corner upstairs - used to have the best prices. Amelia's is another fun store that has a yummy restaurant inside. Its right by downtown (south of it a few streets) off of Austin Avenue.
